Course Accuracy

This course has been officially measured and has an international certificate of course accuracy.

Water & Feed Stations:

The drinks station will be situated at the top end of the lake, opposite to where you start and finish your marathon or half marathon.

You will pass this drinks station area 8 times during the event for the marathon and 4 times for the half marathon.

The drinks available will be High 5 energy drinks available in 200ml cups and water in recyclable bottles.

Marshals will be on hand to fill the cups and re-stock bottles.

The first group of tables you approach will have water only and the second group of tables you approach will have High 5 energy drinks only.

If you require any other nutrition on the course you must carry this yourself.

Important Notice: Please dispose of any rubbish such as energy gel packets and drinks bottles in the bins provided around the course.

At the last Dorney Marathon event we managed to fill 2 black bin bags with energy gel packets alone.

Please do not litter. Anyone who is spotted littering will be subject to disqualification.

Dorney Lake is a beautiful Venue, and we need to keep it that way.

After the race

Do NOT stop within the finish area. Please continue through the finish until you pass the medals and are in an open space.

There will be sealed ACTIPH water bottles at the finish for each runner to collect along with your medal and Love Corn which will be laid out on tables for you to help yourself.

Headphones

This is a traffic-free event;  therefore you are officially allowed to wear headphones during the race, however due to the need to understand marshal instructions, we request that these kept to a volume at a level that allows marshal instructions to remain audible at all times.

Timing

The event will be chip-timed. Your registration pack will include your race number that must be worn on your front. Safety pins will be available at registration if required.
Your number will have a unique timing chip attached on the rear, covered by a foam pad. DO NOT REMOVE THE FOAM PAD.

Your race timing will not start until you cross the start line, marked by the Event Chip Timing inflatable arch.

Travel:

Dorney Lake, Court Lane, Off Lake End Road, Dorney, Windsor, Berkshire, SL4 6FJ

Parking

Parking at the venue is one of the more complicated problems we have had to overcome as the venue uses ‘winter parking’ in October and will not allow any grass parking whatsoever.

There is a hard standing car park near the boathouse and parking available along the access road within the venue.

There is up to a 15-minute walk to registration.

Please follow the instructions of the Dorney Lake Staff who will be managing the parking on the day.

After parking, please follow signs to the registration area, or ask a marshal.

Spectators

We are pleased to announce that spectators are encouraged to attend the event at Dorney Lake .

Due to parking restrictions however, it would be helpful if spectators could turn up to the event in the same car as participants wherever possible.

Changing and Toilets

Changing facilities are available within Dorney Lake Boathouse and toilets will be provided, in the form of portable toilets on the course.

Catering

Catering is available, serving hot drinks and light refreshments.

Photography

We will have an official photographer at the event. The pictures of all the races will be made available for you to download via the Dorney Lake Events Facebook page. If you wish for any of the published photos to be removed, just let us know.

Baggage area

A marshalled baggage area will be provided for runners to bring 1 bag along to the event.

Inside your registration pack there will be a baggage label. Please loop the baggage label around the handle using the self-adhesive, so that the race number is clearly showing.

Results

Results are calculated by EventChipTiming. Your time will be uploaded to their website within seconds of you crossing the finish line. There will be no ticket printer for times at the event but you can find your result immediately at: http://results.eventchiptiming.com/

Due to the chip-timed, phased-start nature of the event, final race results may differ from finishing positions.

The chip data requires WIFI access and occasionally we have to load this data in manually after the event if the connection is lost. If you have a query on your chip time, please wait until the evening of the event before raising the query.

Please note that if you are using GPS to measure your run distance the units are NOT accurate and consistent enough to measure a course for certification. The course has been officially measured and holds an international certificate of course accuracy. Please read the guidance below.

http://coursemeasurement.org.uk/gps.htm

In addition, the time you record on your smart phone is not a reliable guide and will not be your correct chip timed result. Please wait until the official results are published to find out your accurate finish time.

Following the event, the results will be published on the RunBritain website. Following this, the “Power of 10” rankings will be updated by RunBritain, this normally takes around 7 days.
